| After obtaining a master’s degree in Fine Arts (MFA) from Cairo
Universtiy in painting, etching, and affresco, Myriam pursued four years of post-master
studies at the Accademia de Belle Arti in Rome. She perfected her artistic research under
the guidance of renowned masters Franco Gentillini, Mino Maccari, Rivosecchi. She wrote a
thesis on Byzantine and Coptic art. Having won four research and study grants from Italy and France, Myriam was able to fulfill her artistic curiosity and creativity by exploring new techniques and fields of study. In Paris, she studied extensively Byzantine and Russian iconography in Leonidas Ouspensky’s studio. Also in Paris, she studied lacquer, glass slabs, and gilding at Les Arts Appliqués. She researched the integration of plastic arts into the environment under a French grant for university professors. From 1970 to 1972, she worked with the Lebanese Education Ministry to revamp the curriculum for public school plastic arts teachers. She founded an art reference library for them. She is the recipient of many awards, cups, medals, and prizes. She won the first annual Cervara di Roma Prize that was personally awarded to her by Italian president Giovanni Gronchi. Since 1965, she has participated in solo and group shows in the Middle East, Europe, the U.S., Canada, and Asia. Her works can be found in many prestigious public and private collections. Myriam currently resides and works in the U.S. |
